Join us for a unique “Australia Day” trip on Sunday the 26th January 2020 travelling on Queensland Railways Heritage 1956 Railmotor “1901” to the Historic Woodlands of Marburg for lunch. Our rail transport will be on-board the only remaining 1900 Class Railmotor built by Commonwealth Engineering for QR. In the early 1960’s Rail Motor 1901 worked on both country and suburban services. Between 1983 and 1985 it worked on special parcels and freight business outside of Brisbane and on the Ipswich-Helidon rail motor service in the early 1990s. Our trip will depart from Roma Street Station travelling to Rosewood where we will be met by our Coach for the transfer to Woodlands of Marburg.
The Woodlands mansion build was completed in 1891 for the Smith family who owned the 568-acre property that surrounded the house. The mansion and grounds are immaculately presented although the mansion itself is not generally open to the public except for several times a year for Ipswich Heritage Buildings days and for weddings. Normally food and drinks are served in a café behind the mansion. To make this trip something special for our passengers Woodlands have offered us a “special” lunch service in the Thomas Lorimer Parlour inside the mansion. Passengers will enjoy a 2-course lunch with a complementary beer, wine or soft drink as well as a tea or coffee at the end of the meal. Enough time has been allowed for viewing of the grounds and the historic buildings on the estate before our coach will transfer passengers back to Rosewood for the journey back to Brisbane.
Due to limited seating capacity both onboard our Railmotor and at Woodlands this trip will be limited to 40 passengers.
Tickets onboard this fully inclusive trip are $235.00.
Our preliminary timetable will have us departing Platform 3 at Roma Street at 10.40am for an 11.45am arrival at Rosewood. For our trip back we are scheduled to depart Rosewood at 2.40pm for a 3.45pm arrival back at Roma Street.
We look forward to having you onboard….
